SkyRadar Server Module — Dedicated Computing for Radar Training

print-icon

SkyRadar Server Module

The SkyRadar Server Module is a dedicated 19-inch 4U computing platform for SkyRadar training systems. It provides a controlled, tested hardware environment for SkySim, CloudServer and professional radar-training classroom deployments.

SkySim and CloudServer are software roles and run on separate dedicated Server Modules when both are required. The Server Module is the hardware platform; CloudServer is the software layer for shared classroom services.

Designed for defence academies, radar-engineering laboratories, universities and technical training environments.

Training Advantages

  • Use a Dedicated Training Platform — Run SkyRadar software on controlled, tested hardware rather than an unverified general-purpose computer.
  • Support Stable Classroom Operation — Provide predictable processing resources for repeatable instructor-led and trainee exercises.
  • Separate Software Roles Cleanly — Deploy SkySim and CloudServer on individual dedicated Server Modules when both roles are required.
  • Integrate into 19-inch Racks — Install the 4U chassis in professional radar-training laboratory infrastructure.
  • Scale the Training Architecture — Add the computing roles required by the selected classroom size and delivery concept.
  • Reduce Integration Risk — Use an equivalent-or-better configuration validated for the delivered SkyRadar software environment.

Dedicated Computing for Radar Training

The SkyRadar Server Module provides the local computing foundation for SkyRadar training deployments. Its purpose is not generic enterprise hosting or high-performance computing; it is a controlled hardware platform for the software roles defined in a SkyRadar classroom architecture.

Server Module hardware → SkySim or CloudServer software role → connected trainee workstations and radar-training components

The delivered configuration is selected and tested for the intended software role. Final operating-system, network-interface and user-capacity details depend on the agreed project configuration.

What Trainees and Instructors Use It For

  • Run a dedicated SkySim installation for simulated radar scenarios
  • Host CloudServer software for shared classroom services where required
  • Connect compatible radar, simulator and FreeScopes training components
  • Support repeatable multi-user laboratory exercises
  • Keep demanding server-side software separate from trainee workstations
  • Operate within a controlled, documented training-system architecture

A Hardware Platform, Not the CloudServer Software

The Server Module is the physical 19-inch 4U computing platform. CloudServer is a software role installed on a dedicated Server Module when the classroom architecture requires shared services. SkySim is a separate software role and uses its own dedicated Server Module.

Main Training Scope

19-inch Training Infrastructure

  • 4U rack-mount ATX chassis
  • Approximately 482.6 × 480 × 180 mm
  • Installation with suitable rack depth, rear clearance and ventilation

Validated Computing Configuration

  • Typical AMD Ryzen 9 5900X or similar processor
  • Typical 32 GB DDR4 memory
  • Typical 250 GB SSD and 750 W power supply

Dedicated Software Roles

  • One Server Module for SkySim
  • A separate Server Module for CloudServer where required
  • Role-specific operating-system and network configuration

Classroom Integration

  • Connection to compatible SkyRadar training components
  • Support for instructor-led and trainee workflows
  • Capacity defined by the agreed deployment architecture

Where It Fits

Radar or simulator sources → dedicated Server Module software roles → networked FreeScopes workstations and classroom services

Smaller training configurations may not require a separate CloudServer role. Larger multi-user classrooms can use a dedicated CloudServer Server Module alongside a separate SkySim Server Module. The final architecture is defined during system configuration.

Prerequisites

  • Compatible SkyRadar software role and licence
  • Suitable 19-inch rack space with ventilation and rear clearance
  • Project-defined power and network infrastructure
  • Compatible instructor and trainee workstations
  • Agreed operating-system, networking and user-capacity requirements

Who It Is For

  • Defence academies and technical training centres
  • Universities and radar-engineering laboratories
  • Instructors delivering repeatable multi-user exercises
  • Institutions deploying SkySim or CloudServer locally
  • System integrators building controlled SkyRadar classroom environments

Learning and Deployment Outcomes

With the Server Module in place, instructors can deliver SkyRadar software roles on a dedicated and controlled computing platform, separate SkySim and CloudServer responsibilities, support repeatable classroom workflows and document the hardware foundation of the training architecture.
