FreeScopes Basic V — Surveillance & ATM Integration
FreeScopes Basic V extends the FreeScopes training path from radar and RF processing into surveillance-data handling and ATM-oriented workflows. Trainees work with plots, tracks and structured surveillance data while learning how sensor outputs are transformed into information used by downstream monitoring and decision-support environments.
The module provides the bridge between physical radar measurements and higher-level surveillance processing, helping trainees connect radar signal processing with data formats, tracking concepts and ATM-related system workflows.
FreeScopes Basic V follows the progression from sensor and radar output through detections, plots and tracks to structured surveillance information for downstream use.
Sensor / radar output → detections → plots → tracks → structured surveillance data → downstream monitoring and decision-support workflows
The training workflow helps trainees distinguish each processing stage, inspect how information changes between stages and relate radar-processing results to surveillance and ATM-oriented environments. It remains an educational environment and does not represent an operational certified ATM system.
FreeScopes Basic V builds on the radar, signal-processing and RF foundations of Basic I–IV and introduces practical SUR and DPR workflows.
CAT 034, CAT 048 and CAT 062 are project-specific categories and are not presented as universally supported.
Compare detected plots with tracked objects over time.
Compare stable and unstable tracking behaviour under controlled scenarios.
Inspect structured fields and relate them to originating radar and tracking data.
Where included, inspect CAT 21 message fields and relate them to represented surveillance information.
Compare radar outputs, plots, tracks and final surveillance representations.
Follow a controlled data path from radar or sensor input to surveillance presentation.

FreeScopes Basic I → Basic II → Basic III → Basic IV → Basic V → surveillance and ATM-oriented training workflows
FreeScopes Basic V is the surveillance-processing bridge between the radar/RF foundations of Basic I–IV and higher-level ATM-oriented workflows. It allows trainees to follow information from sensor output through plots and tracks into structured surveillance data and monitoring processes.
The module remains training-focused and does not represent an operational certified ATM system.
After completing relevant exercises, trainees can identify surveillance-processing stages; compare detections, plots and tracks; analyse track continuity; inspect structured surveillance data; interpret supported ASTERIX-related fields; compare processing outcomes; relate radar outputs to downstream surveillance workflows; and evaluate how tracking and processing choices affect the surveillance picture.
RF, antenna and propagation foundations immediately preceding the surveillance-integration module.
Repeatable recorded, replayed and supported live-data workflows for processing comparisons.
Real radar measurements for compatible sensor-to-surveillance exercises.
System monitoring and control training workflows where supported by the delivered configuration.
Shared classroom services for compatible multi-user training architectures.
Use FreeScopes Basic V to compare detections, plots, tracks and structured surveillance information in controlled training scenarios.
