The object generator is able to generate virtual objects through 24 GHz beams into the antenna of the FMCW base module. When choosing the right frequency, this will create false objects in the radar scopes (A-Scope, B-Scope, PPI, displayed in the FreeScopes software). The FMCW based module is required to conduct these exercises.
The module works by generating virtual objects through a software-based coupling of the object generator and the FMCW radar. The effects are purely software based, but the learning effect of the student is like in a real DRFM (Digital radio frequency memory).
The system consist of a 24 GHz radar source, and included microcomputer and a connection to FreeScopes.
The object generator comes with a FreeScopes module for the generation of disturbances (jamming) and fake objects. The objects will be communicated to the receiving radar, which emulates the objects and disturbances on the A-Scope and PPI.
While the object generator operates as generator of Electronic Counter Measures (ECM), the receiving radar has to apply Electronic Counter Counter Measures (ECCM) to free the radar image of fake objects and disturbances.
