In the remainder of the document we will provide answers to the qualification requirements in Aviation. Aviation Academies, military customers and big universities are ideal users for these environments.

Radar Training Systems

SkyRadar is the global leader in primary and secondary training radars. The radars help Air Traffic Controllers (ATCO) to learn to comprehend, apply and analyze radar technology and in cases of depreciated functionality to rapidly understand the problem and to use workarounds.

The Air Traffic Safety Electronics Personnel (ATSEP) gets a deep understanding of the functionality. They will learn to apply and calibrate them and to understand reasons for system depreciation based on the radar images produced.
The system supports ICAO's qualification requirements ICAO Doc 10057.

All SkyRadar modules operate via browsers and can be accessed remotely. In times like the COVID-19 pandemic, this helps to have lectures continue without interruption. The systems can be integrated in a learning management system to automate learning processes.

SkyRadar's intelligent message queue server (SkyRadar CloudServer) integrates the ARFF, the Aerodrome simulator, the radars and and distributed control system.

Modular Training Radar

SkyRadar developed a radar for in-house and outdoor training. It is perfectly safe for humans.

Aerodrome Simulators / Tower Simulators

SkyRadar's tower simulator is a comprehensive training environment for Air Traffic Controllers ( ATCO) and Air Traffic Safety Electronics Personnel (ATSEP) training. It comprises 3D & 2D Tower and Ground (TWR, GND), En-route (ACC), Approach (APP) and Terminal Maneuvering Area (TMA) operations as well as SMGCS (Advanced Surface Movement Guidance and Control System) and more.

General Airport Personnel can be trained on airport procedures like receiving clearance from controllers to enter or cross a runway or taxiway. 

3DTWR

The solution is based on the most up-to-date legislation and requirements by ICAO, EUROCONTROL and under the rules of the National Regulations (ICAO Documents, Annexes) and CNS / ATM Standards and recommendations; complemented by valuable educational tools for high training efficiency. The solution represents an operational ATC / ATM System connected to a powerful simulator.

To allow to practice modern requirements as e.g. given by EUROCONTROL SESAR, the solution allows to switch each working position between the roles of ACC, APP, TWR, Supervisor, Pseudopilot. So the complete air traffic workflow (ACC-APP-TWR) can be trained. Also, roles like the flexible attribution of “virtual control centers” to flexibly respond on peaks as required in the EUROCONTROL Single European Sky legislation can be implemented.

The strong points:

  • Fully operational ATC System where the inputs (SDPS, RDPS) have been replaced by simulated inputs. The simulated inputs can be mixed with real traffic and weather data. ARTISYS’ operational VCS system is used for communication between Pseudo-pilots and the Controller Working Positions. Data communication is standardized (e.g., ASTERIX protocol).
  • The system can be connected to existing operational systems and models at the client side through standard ATC protocols. The solution follows an open system architecture. The customer is not locked in to a proprietary architecture.

Monitoring System

SkyRadar's Monitoring Training System for ATSEP. It trains ATSEP on rapidly locating errors or points of system degradation, on rapidly fixing them and keeping downtimes short.
